Changing WordPress Directory Name

When I change the directory name and the subsequent setting in the admin options from ‘/wordpress/’ to something else, will that mess up all my posts and do I have to change anything anywhere else?
Should I change it before I post anything? That is not the greatest option for me, as it would help if I can make a few necessary posts then change it.
