changing URL questions

When I signed up my blog address was https://www.savvydoula.com/default

Then I followed some codex instructions to change the url to https://www.savvydoula.com/blog

I’d like to be able to also get to the website just by typing https://www.savvydoula.com. Right now when I type that in, I get a page that says “Index” at the top and it shows my directory folders of “blog” and “default”, and I can get to the blog if I click the “blog” link.

There’s an wp-content folder in the “default” folder and in that there’s an advanced cache file, but my ftp program won’t let me delete those.

I tried following the instructions to “Giving WordPress It’s Own Directory While Leaving Your Blog in the Root Directory” but the index.php file doesn’t change when I save the .txt file and upload it back into the root folder. Still can’t get to the site with https://www.savvydoula.com.

I’m not sure if I missed a step doing some of the other codex instructions, so I hope someone can help me figure out what to do.
