• When I first set my blog up I did it as a subdirectory for a site I hardly use. After I thought up a name I registered the domain and pointed it to the subdirectory. All my links had the old domain/directory. So I looked around and found directions for moving to a new domain.

I changed the values of ‘siteurl’ and ‘home’ in wp_options triple checking that the dod not end with a slash.

I changed the ‘guid’ column in wp_posts. I only had four posts so verifying it was easy.

I edited the .htaccess file in the directory where my domain name points. Wherever it referred to “/directory/” I changed it to “/”. There was no other references to the original path.

Now my template is gone. Even the template for the admin screens is gone. Everything is just text and it says “Page not found” on every page. I can get at all the admin functions but I cannot find the problem

I tried deactivating the Akismet plug in and going back to the default theme but nothing works.

I cannot find anything that mentions anything else that needs to be changed. Can someone please help me?

  • I have a similar dilemma. I changed hosting services and stupidly set up /blog when I had been using /wp. I got the template to work in /blog-but lost my archives so I renamed the folder /wp. I have my Blog in it’s entirety now, but mot on a template of any kind. It isn’t pretty ?? See what I mean?
