Changing url for tags

Is it possible to change the url of the tags. As an example, one of my tags url currently displays as mysite.com//bwg_tag/2-doors/ and I would like it to display as mysite.com/tags/2-doors/
This is because we recently changed to a wordpress site and had many tags on the previous site who’s url was mysite.com/tags/2-doors/ . We don’t want to have to redirect all these tags to the new directory mysite.com//bwg_tag/.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
