Just hit a fairly major stumbling block with my multisite.

I’ve created 2 default theme templates which new users can choose when they sign up. That works perfectly and includes sample articles etc for them to edit.

The problem is that if they try to switch between the 2 available themes once their site is setup then the widgets & sidebars get screwed up. I have deliberately restricted access to a lot of the wp functions like widgets to try and keep everything as simple as possible for them.

Really hoping someone knows a way to keep the widgets in place when changing theme?

Turning into a bit of a nightmare this one..

The widgets I was using were to insert some php into a static page which is included on all new sites.

I managed to do away with the need for the widgets by creating a new page template for this static page and added it to both my themes. But whenever you change themes, the template returns to the default template.

    Any way around that????

My mistake. I’d given both versions of the template the same name in the actual template, but saved them with different names to help identify them. Renamed them & everything’s fine ??
