I would like to test out a theme that I downloaded – do more than just “preview’ it. How can I (or is it possible to)…

    1) Save the settings on my existing theme so that if I decide to go back to it, I don’t have to redo everything?

    2) Test a new theme out completely, before I take it live on my site?

Theme settings are automatically saved – although some of your text widgets may be lost. You could try looking at some preview/test drive theme plugins.

Thanks for the quick answer. Yes, I looked at some of the test drive plug-ins. The problem I am having is that when I Preview the new theme I’m looking at (actually, any new theme), they look completely different. Probably because my current theme has strange header and column positions that don’t immediately ‘translate’ straight across. So if I used a test drive them to view the new theme while in Admin mode, I would have to be making changes to the headers, columns, etc – which might help me to test drive the new theme, but it would at the same time completely mess up my current live theme that everyone else is seeing ??

I’m testing out duplicating the entire web site folder, but have a feeling that could take quite some time…
