Changing Customized Theme on my Website

  • My company website was created using a VA (prior to me coming on board) using a customized theme. And it needs to be refreshed and updated.

    I want to change the entire look and feel of the website, and I would assume that means changing the theme (slightly new WordPress user here)

    I have ideas of how I want it to look and flow, but I am unsure where to start.

    What are the best first steps to take?

    Is there a way to preview the new theme before it goes live?
