Changing the publish date on an article

I’m looking to change my permalinks to /%post_id%/%postname%/ I’d be changing from a permalink with the year and month in it.

I already understand I will need to do redirects to make sure my old links point to the new link structure.

One thing I’d like to is be able to re-publish, or change the date, of older articles. My questions is this – If I change the date on an older article to today will the post_id change? In other words, after I switch my permalinks to Post_id/Postname will I have to do redirects if I re-publish an article?
