• Hello All,

I’m thinking about changing my permalink structure on my established blog / website and I’m wondering if this could cause any problems.

    Currently my permalink structure is:

    Month and Name : https://www.sopranos.foochuck.com/2010/05/episode-17-commendatori/

I’m considering changing it to this:

    Custom Structure: /%category%/%postname%/

Hoping that the permalink will look like this:

    https://www.sopranos.foochuck.com/episode-guide/season-2/episode-17-commendatori/

The reason I want to change it is because I do episode guides on The Sopranos and it’s not too important to have the month & date in the URL, and I’d rather have the category / post name.

Here are my questions before I make this change:

Will this cause broken links from my existing rss feed or search engines that currently link to my site?

Does WordPress create any 301 redirects automatically when the permalink structure is changed?

Could this cause any other problems that I haven’t considered?

Any info on the subject would be most appreciated.

    -foochuck
