    Hello

I set up a subdomain using the WordPress 2017 theme. I set some of my pages to ‘A home page section’ in the page attribute box on the editor. After I saved them, I then wanted to stop them being this type of page, but the option disappeared.

I decided to change theme and now have the following options:
    Defualt Template
    Full Width
    Home
    Project

I have tried all of these options, but when I look at the page in ‘all pages’ I still see the following:
    — PAGE NAME — Private | Parent Page: A homepage section

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I should have mentioned that these pages are not listed as pages in the menu configuration options.

I looked at that and don’t see how that changes the page attribute edit options, so I got a duplicate page plugin and duplicated the pages. The unwanted attribute dissappeared and all is well on my subdomain again.

    Hi mish99,

Instead of looking at the template option under Page Attributes, can you see the Parent option above this?

What does it say at the moment? I suspect it says:

    Parent
    A homepage section

Click on the picklist, and choose no parent

Does that help at all, let me know.

There is no parent option in that box at all. Just the funny number. When I changed template the option box reappeared, but there was no option for parent. I prepared a screenshot, but can’t load it ??

    Hi mish99,

This sometimes happens if all your pages are set to Private. You will either need to make the parent page public again so you can reset the options or you may need to make all pages your amending public.

Once you have managed your changes you can then set the pages private again.

Let me know how it works out.

Thank you so much, Drew, I just had a play and unfortunately, it did not work. The page I gave the link to is set to public. In my new theme, I can see the template dropdown in the page attributes, but there is no parent option. I don’t have the template dropdown in 2017.

If I have this problem again I will use the duplicate page workaround (though actually, I will just avoid the ‘homepage section’ option in future!).

    cheers
