• Hello!

How can I require people to register with their first name and email or their first name, username and email? I want to use first names in the Learndash system and not usernames, if possible. Any advice on how to do this? Thanks!

  • Hi:

Won’t using First Names get confusing for you, as many people have the same First Name? Is your concern with regard to auto populating salutations eg. Hi Daniela:? If that’s the case there is a LD shortcode that will pull the person’s First Name from their Profile.

Hi, Miguel. Thanks for getting back to me. I do not interact with students in most of my classes. They’re self-guided. I communicate with them mostly through email, though, when I do. And I do not like interacting with a username. First and last name would be ideal, however, since you mention it. If I use the LD shortcode, however, I do not know where to put it. I am using the Uncanny Owl toolkit and I don’t seem to have any power to change any aspects of its Login. And unfortunately, Uncanny Owl doesn’t have any documentation or support for this issue. Can you offer any advice?

The form that’s set up on that page uses Theme My Login, and in the Toolkit we don’t offer registration options. How users register isn’t something we support, hence the lack of documentation. ?? I’m afraid that we wouldn’t be able to offer support in this area in the context of the Toolkit.

Maybe this is a question for LearnDash.com?

Okay. They are working on some other options for me. But I do thank you for your input.

    Hi SpiritCentric???

OK, so I too was having trouble with UnCanny Owl’s login feature and, although I can’t remember who, it was suggested to me that I try Theme My Login. It works very well, for me, and on redirected pages you can use LD shortcodes to personalize salutations.

    All the best,

Thanks a bunch, Miguel. I’ve decided to go with WPForms, which is working beautifully. It’s easy, clean and EASY. Hahahahaha! Thanks for your input!

    Hi Spirit:

Ha, interesting. So what exactly will you be using it for, because it doesn’t appear to be an alternative to all the Registration / Login / Set / Reset / Lost Password etc. functions?
