• I am creating a child theme of the standard theme twenty twenty two. I add a standard paragraph block. Why in the settings of this block in the typography section I do not have the font size option. I started looking for the reason for this error and came to strange conclusions – at the moment WP 6.0 has the ability to change the font size in a paragraph block, but if we install the “Gutenberg” plug, this option disappears … Strange, because this plugin is assumptions should add new features to block themes faster than WP in the latest version, and this is not the case here. Why?

  • I’d like to add something to this. Yesterday I tried to change the font size of the words in a photo caption – but the Typography section was gone from the right sidebar.

I’m using the latest version of the plugin.

Hi @moviedebuts – could you please start a separate thread so folks can help you troubleshoot individually? Thanks!

@marcin1333 – I am seeing the Typography section on my test site with:
    – Gutenberg 13.5.2 (either active or not active)
    – WordPress 6.0

Could you tell me what versions of Gutenberg and WordPress you’re running?

Could you please confirm whether you’re missing the Typography section on the paragraph block if you activate your parent theme rather than the child theme?

    Thanks!

    Hello Kathryn,

my gutenberg plugin is 13.5.2, and WordPress 6.0.

When I activate my parent theme with active Gutenberg plugin I don’t have the font size option in typo block options, and on my parent theme, when I disable Gutenberg plugin font size option is on the list of typo block.

    Any ideas why?

    Hi @marcin1333

When I activate my parent theme with active Gutenberg plugin I don’t have the font size option in typo block options,

Thanks for confirming this, and for providing your Gutenberg and WP versions.

So far I haven’t been able to replicate what you’re seeing. Here’s a screenshot of the Typography section on a Paragraph block:

    Editor screenshot

    This is with:

    – Gutenberg 13.5.2 active
    – NO other plugins active
    – WordPress 6.0
    – Twenty Twenty-Two 1.2

Some additional troubleshooting questions, sticking with the parent theme active for now, please:

Could you please confirm that you’re still missing the Typography section with NO other plugins running aside from Gutenberg 13.5.2?

What version of Twenty Twenty-Two are you using?

Could you share a screenshot of the paragraph block settings area?

    Thanks!

    Kathryn,

    Yes, I confirm the following:
    – Gutenberg 13.5.2 active
    – NO other plugins active
    – WordPress 6.0
    – Twenty Twenty-Two 1.2.

When checking individual options, I noticed a strange regularity – the “Font size” option in the paragraph appears when I switch WordPress to English, when I return to Polish (my language) then the “Font size” option in the paragraph disappears … Perhaps it is here problem – why this option is not available in Worpress in Polish?

I am attaching a screenshot with the options visible when switching the language:

@marcin1333 Thanks for the extra testing and details.

I tried switching the language under Settings > General to Polish, but I still see the Typography option:

I am now running Gutenberg 13.6.0 as there was recently an update. Could you try updating Gutenberg and let me know how it goes?

Also, could you please check the Imgur link when you have a chance, as it’s not working for me. Thanks!

https://imgur.com/gK01jFt – this is correct link – notice the difference between your screenshot and my. This is strange… any ideas?

    Ps. Yes I have 13.6.0

Thanks for the new screenshot. Very strange indeed. I toggled back and forth between English and Polish and I still see the font size option in Polish, both with or without the Gutenberg plugin active.

I’m wondering, since the Gutenberg plugin is a development plugin meant for testing features before they are merged into core WordPress, could you just leave it inactive? You’ll still be able to use the block editor built into core.

Thank you for your help and commitment. That’s why I use the Gutenberg plugin – because I use the options made available earlier than the update of the Worpress itself. I will see what the situation will look like with the next project made from scratch on a child theme – a new WP installation with a new child theme and Gutenberg installed. I will finish the current project with what I have, I am too far to start everything all over again ??
Thank you once again for your help Kathryn ??

Gotcha! Hopefully this won’t be too much of a hassle. Good luck finishing up the site!
