    Hi,
I’m currently editing a very old post from my blog using Rewrite and Republish. It is still a draft as I haven’t finished yet.
I would also like to change the slug and I have been able to write a new slug in the field between Seo title and meta description.
I was wondering what to expect when I finally click on Republish.
Will my edited post have the new slug and the former one be in the drafts with the old slug? Will I lose the old one all together? None of those?
Please let me know, I was not able to find this explained anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Giovanna

    Hi @matatomata

When using the ‘rewrite & republish’ function in the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin, it’s intended that, apart from all of the other changes to the content, it would keep the same slug when you click on the republish button -https://yoast.com/rewrite-republish-article-with-yoast-duplicate-post/

Hi Michael and thanks for your answer.
So I should keep that field empty and then maybe, after Republishing, change the slug and do a redirection?

    Hi,

That could be an option. You can create a redirect from the old URL to the new URL.

Otherwise, you can also just use the ‘clone’ feature and already change the slug for the cloned draft ahead, and then also create a redirect from the old URL to the new URL after as well.

Yes, the clone is what I was thinking about. Thanks for the support and have a good day.
