Changing size of thumbnails on home page

Hi jasonleehines. The theme default uses thumb-standard (320×320) for the image in the standard blog list. The image container is set at 200px wide. The image size is set in css to width:100% and height:auto so it is resized proportionately to fit 100% of the width of the container. Since the image is a square it is resized to 200×200.

You can modify content-standard.php (in a child theme) to use the thumb-medium (520×245) image. For both the thumbnail and the placeholder, replace thumb-standard with thumb-medium:

That image would then be resized proportionately to the container width of 200px; the height will be 94px.

If you want to make the image larger, say 300px wide, you could adjust the containers with css using something like this:

.post-standard .post-thumbnail {
  margin-left: -310px;
  max-width: 300px;

The thumb-medium image would then be resized proportionately to 300×141.
