This is probably pretty deep, but I’m wondering if anyone knows a simple way to do this?

    See my site, here: https://www.davidweiss.net

I have breadcrumbs kick in when “off menu,” for example, here: https://www.davidweiss.net/info/portfolio/

But see what happens with individual posts: https://www.davidweiss.net/speech-balloons/

Rather than reading “Welcome / Speech Balloons,” I’d like the breadcrumbs to read “Welcome / Blog / Speech Balloons.”

Obviously I’ve got a static home page and posts set up to appear on Blog.

For the breadcrumbs I’m using the Breadcrumb Trail plug-in, and I realize I could look into other plug-ins that might integrate with categories (this one doesn’t, “out of the box”). But I like everything else about this plug-in, and I put in a fair bit of customization, so I’d like to see if I can keep it.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

  • I have an idea, try using an SEO plugin to change the title of the page while leaving the name of the actual page intact, or visa versa.

Change the page name from ‘Welcome’ to ‘Home’

You can install an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO, and it will give you the ability to change the title of the page while leaving the name of the page the same. what this does is makes it so the tab of the browser and google search results will read, ‘Welcome’ but in the breadcrumb it will display the title of the home page, which should be set to ‘Home’, right now the title of the home page is probably set to ‘welcome’.

    Does that make sense?

    I just double checked.

You will want to set the title of your page to ‘Home’ and then scroll down and set the SEO title to Welcome. that should give you the desired effect.

Sorry i misunderstood your question, just disregard my response. haha sorry.

    Hey, no problem Julian!

I wanted to add something to this, another way of phrasing the question:

The URL of my Blog page is: https://www.davidweiss.net/blog/

But the URLs of individual posts are: https://www.davidweiss.net/”post name”

Why is that? That would be logical if my posts appeared on my home page, but if posts appear on different page, shouldn’t they have a URL that reflects that?

Anyway, is it possible to change that, so that the URL of posts become https://www.davidweiss.net/blog/”post name”?

Ok got it: Just need to change the permalink structure (Settings > Permalinks) to Custom, specifically /blog/%postname%/

    Thanks, Dvorak Designs! : )

Of course, now I have to re-do a few links, and probably re-publish the few posts I have, but from here on in, this should do the trick!

    glad you found it ??

    Happy New Year!
