• Hi

I’m a fairly experienced wordpress user and have several sites. The latest one uses WP 2.02 and Widgets. I think it’s the greatest but just one problem. Before, without widgets I would go into sidebar.php to change titles. For instance I don’t want to use the term ‘Blogroll’ and would prefer ‘useful links’. I can change ‘Pages’, Meta,Categories, and recent comments to something else but not links (Blogroll) or Recent Posts in Widget Sidebar.

How can I do this and will there be an option to change the title of links and recent posts in Widgets? If not I think it would be very useful if they could be changed easily too.

  • In the case of “Blogroll”, I believe that this is pulled from your link category name, so you can change it there.

For “Recent Posts”, I think your option at present is to edit the widgets.php file (either by hardcoding a name of your choice, or by adding a title field—I’ve done both of those things in various circumstances). Hopefully there will be more flexibility in new versions of the Sidebar Widgets.

Thank you very much for your answers bookchiq. This is exactly what i was looking for. Glad I did not ask myself.

I changed line 949 in the “widgets.php” file.
