How do I set the line height between out bound links in a side bar?

1 Which specific file do I need to edit and what specific command do I use (with numerical value) to get single spacing between the sidebar links?

2 Also, I still haven’t gotten it to display the front page content in I.E. (displays fine in FireFox), despite copying & pasting content from my computer using NotePad (instead of from Word), to WP. Any new suggestions welcomed.

    Thanks.

  • You have Word code (starting on line 58) despite using NotePad. Use the paste from word button on your editor.

Hmmm… I did that already (I assume you mean the “paste from Word” button in WP “Edit page” itself) and no joy.

Did it or not. You have MS Word code in your WP code and that will not work.

As far as your other questions. Open your style sheet. Look for sidebar and line height, make changes and see what happens. Experiment. Learn.

    Thanks.

Hmmm… If I copied from original Word doc, then paste it into NotePad, then copy & paste from NotePad to WP, it should have eliminated the Word code, correct?

What you see there now is a previous version I re-installed after I couldn’t get IE to display the content, even though it had been pasted from NotePad.

    I’ll try it again. <sigh>

This is my first foray into WP, CSS and PHP. Please be gentle. ??

.. and thanks for your assistance. I’ll get it eventually.

I just pasted the info from Word, using the “paste from Word” button in WP– that didn’t work.

I then pasted from Word to NotePad, then to WP, using the “Paste as plain text” button in WP. That didn’t work, either, and actually changed the font and the line spacing, leaving me unable to change the line spacing on the text. (can change it in the WP editor, but it doesn’t display with the edited spacing after updating the page)

    Arrgghhhhh.. what gives?

Probably something very, very simple I am doing or not doing that I don’t see.

    Help anyone?!

You can also save your word file as text and then try cutting and pasting. In any event, it is the Word code that is causing your problems.

You can see the text when you paste from Word or paste from plain text and if there is code there it won’t work.

You can also set up Publish from Word and try that – some like that.

    Thanks, kmessinger– you were right.

Got it fixed by looking at the html view in the WP “Edit page” view and eliminating the unbelievable amount of garbage code there from Word formatting (in spite of pasting it from NotePad) and then pasting the content from Note Pad into the page edit view.

Also got the line height issue for the sidebar column outbound links resolved by adding line height=110% instead of a pixel size based height.

Actually, my son did both of these in about 20 minutes. Nice to have a pro programmer.

Thanks for pointing us in the right direction. Phew.. now to get on to adding conten to the site.
