Apologies if answered; it’s a bit hard to search through the forums. I keep finding methods to change the share button and more link text.

I would like to change the share text to custom text instead of being [post title] [post link]. Is there a filter that I can apply to do this?

Are you talking about the message tied to the Jetpack Sharing buttons or the message tied to Jetpack Publicize?

If you’re talking about Publicize, this thread should help you out: it includes a solution to add categories to that default message. You can of course customize the code given there to add your custom message instead:

Regarding the Sharing Button message, I’m afraid there isn’t a way to customize that at the moment. You could open up a new GitHub issue for our development team for consideration – you can open a new issue here:

    I hope that helps!

Are you referring to only a dashboard based customize, or any whatsoever? I would be fine with a filter hook if one exists.

    This should help:

You can also use the custom Publicize message box appearing right above the Publish button in your post editor, if you want the message to be different for each post.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the link Jeremy, would that work for Jetpack sharing as well? My interest is in editing the text that is the default value when a visitor uses a share link on the site, as opposed to Publicize for when a post is published.

Oh, I see! You’ll need to use a different filter, sharing_title, for the Twitter sharing button. Here is an example of how to use it:

Twitter is really the only service you can really customize, as the other services don’t offer a default sharing message and allow your readers to enter their own message.

    I hope this helps.

Awesome, worked like a charm, thanks!

Final request I think: setting a specific image from the post to display with the share link. I found something on the Jetpack blog that was a slightly different use case, and by default my images aren’t being used since they are not featured images of a CPT.

Could you give me an example, so I can take a closer look?
