Changing server, backed up DB, what about other files?

  • I want to move my WP to a new server. Same URL. I’ve copied my database, but am unclear as to how to backup files not labeled wp. My site is used for podcasting, so mostly these are sound files, although there are image files as well.

  • The sound and image files, were they uploaded through the WP-Admin?

    If so, the only other thing you need to backup is your wp-content folder.

    Otherwise you’ll need to backup your wp-content folder, as well as the folders that contain your images and sound files.
