Changing Permalinks returns internal server error

  • When I change the permalink settings from default to post name my site stops working.

    I can change the permalink and save the changes, WP say’s the change has been updated/saved.

    But then whenever I click a link from the homepage of my site, I get an Internal Server Error.

    Changing the permalinks back to default makes the site work again.

    I can’t find access to the .htaccess file as other posts mention.

    How do I fix this problem?

  • Hi ericauld,

    Are you running your site on a Linux machine? If you are, did you check the root directory of your web site? It should be under /var/www/html/.htaccess
