Changing permalink structure for the 2nd time !

  • Hey guys,
    at first my blog used the standard permalink structure with ?p=xxxx which i switched to /year/month/postname/
    so all the old backlinks would work i used Deans Permalink Plugin.

    Now i realised that this structure is really stupid because when i want to update an article and the month changed, the permalink will change and all old backlinks wont work anymore ??

    So i tried to change the permalink structure for a 2nd time. Sadly the old links wont work anymore ?? not even with deans permalink plugin.

    Any1 has an idea how to resolve my problem ?

    No1 has a solution ?

    Is there a Plugin that lets you override the complete Permalink for every post ?

    okay after trying a lot i think there is no real solution for the problem. i think i have now 3 options.

    1. keep /year/month/postname
    2. change to /postname/ and lose all old permalinks
    3. i find a plugin that gives me the possibility to change the WHOLE permalink structure on every post or lets me put the posts on the start page without editing the date.

    Don’t do that!!

    And just a suggestion, if you use a permalink that starts with /%post_id%/ it MIGHT help. I noticed that when I type the url with ID and anything can be put after it, it goes to the correct post. Don’t know if that will still work for you too, but it’s worth the try.

    I have found that changing my permalink structure breaks the site fullstop. The only structure that works is the default one. Mine is a new blog and I have no problem redoing the few pages but even then it fails.

    Then you problably either don’t have a (writable) htaccess or you can’t use mod_rewrite.
