Changing Permalink Structure and Redirection Plugin

  • Currently I have my permalinks as mydomain.com/year/month/postname. By “postname”, I usually edit the post names in the permalinks to keep them short and relevant for SEO. I want to change the structure to mydomain.com/postname. If I change the permalink setting to mydomain.com/%postname%/, will it transfer all my custom postnames exactly the way I have them right now? In other words, whatever I have after mydomain.com/year/month? If not, how do I do this?

    Once I change the structure, I need to redirect all my old urls. I’m trying to use the Redirection plugin, but I don’t quite understand how to configure the target url.
