Yes. On the plugin settings page (Dashboard->Settings->Email Users) the second option controls how the users are sorted. There are quite a few options to choose from (username, first name, last name, etc.).

Thanks, however that wasn’t quite what I meant. All that seemed to do was change the way the names are displayed. Before, someone with the display name “Green Timtam” and username “timgreen” was displayed as “Green Timtam” but positioned with other users whose username began with T (ie. Display Name being displayed, and being sorted by Username).

What I want to do is display the Display Name, and sort by the display name, so Green Timtam will be displayed with other display names beginning with G.

I’ve change it to “Username (Display Name)” (ie. timgreen (Green Timtam)” which should help.

If you choose Display Name as an option, you may not get the results you want depending on how your 140+ users choose to set their display name. Display Name is one of the settings each user can control within their profile and WordPress offers several choices:

    1. Username
    2. First Name
    3. Last Name
    4. First Name Last Name
    5. Last Name First Name

Because each user could choose a different setting for their Display Name, if you set Email Users to use Display Name, you could potentially end up with a list that doesn’t appear to have any rhyme or reason to the ordering.

Display Name would be the last choice I would pick. Personally, I almost always use Last Name, First Name (username) with Email Users as I find it the easiest for locating users. I’ve used it extensively with our swim team site which has 300+ users registered.
