    Is there a way to change the name of a theme?
    I have made numerous edits to the theme and it hardly looks like the original aymore and I would like the name to reflect that. I was able to change the folder name without a problem but once I try to edit the information at the top of the CSS, i.e.
    /*
    Theme Name:
    Description:
    Author:
    Author URI:
    Version:
    Tags:
    */

    I get a message that the template can no longer be found. Is editing this off limits?

    Activate another theme when updating those details, then reload the theme admin page, it’ll appear in the theme list under the new name…

    NOTE: Don’t update those details if that is the active theme…

    Simply…

    1: Activate a theme not the one you’re editting..
    2: Make the changes in the file
    3: Open or refresh the theme admin
    4: Select and activate the theme under the new name..

    Make a copy of the theme folder. Personally, I then rename the folder to reflect the new theme name (e.g. MyTheme or Wibble)

    Open style.css in the new folder and amend the Theme name, Description etc as appropriate. Upload your new theme to your themes folder. It should now be available via Admin/Appearance. Switch to the new theme. Delete the old theme folder.

    I think you may be having a problem because you’re trying to edit an active theme.

    Thanks!
    How do you change the thumbnail that goes along with it?

    You don’t need to copy the folder, you can rename it aswell as update the details without copying providing it’s not the active theme…

    Of course it may be nice to have a backup incase, so a valid suggestion nonetheless..

    The thumbnail is the image in the theme root… screenshot.png ..
