Changing Multisite Subsite Name/Subdirectory

  • Hi Friends,

    My boss wants me to change the names of two of the subsites on our company’s multisite network, which will involve also changing the names of the subdirectories those subsites are installed into. I.e.: domain.com/name -> domain.com/newname. What is involved in doing this? Is it as simple as changing the Site Address under each subsite? I’m assuming we’d have to do redirects for all pages to the new address. We have a dev/staging site I can test out any changes on first.

  • Yes, change Site Address (siteurl). That should be it. As long as you dont have hard links inside your content. If you do you have to do a search and replace in your database.

    Redirects are optional. You can put them in .htaccess
