Changing how name displays in comments

  • Hello,
    I’ve been using my real name to respond to comments on my site, but I’d like to have my blog name display instead. I figured out how to change it in my profile and new posts of mine are displaying the name I want. My question is can I change the display name for all of my previous posts? I was hoping that, once I changed the name over, everything old would update, but no such luck.

    My website is https://www.mycrappyhouse.com. My posts display V Vachula, but I’d like them to say My Crappy House. Any ideas?

  • Did you already set the “Display name publicly as” to the new name for the specific user? Any posts assigned to that user should update once you have made that change and saved.

    I am thinking you may have created a new user instead of editing the existing one?

    All Posts And Comments Created By The Author Name Are Updated Once You Update Your Profile. Please Re-Check Your Profile And Set The “Display Name” To Your Desired Name.

    Thanks for the replies. I’m in the main Profile setting screen – not Add user. Since I’m not allowed to change my username (next to my username, it says usernames cannot be changed), I added My Crappy House as a nickname. I then changed the “Display name publicly as” tab to My Crappy House. I did a test post and it’s now showing up as I like, but all of my old posts still say V Vachula. What am I doing wrong? ??

    I reviewed your site and it appears your display name is “My Crappy House” for any posts I can see. I think you are all set. Let me know if you are still in need of help.

    Oh, cool! Thank you! It never occurred to me that it could be a cache issue. I’ll clear my cache and see what happens.

    Nope. I cleared the cache and all of my old comments are still showing up as V Vachula. Maybe I confused the issue by calling comments posts. Sorry about that. All of my blog posts are now showing My Crappy House as the author. My old comments, however, are still all displaying V Vachula. If you go to my latest blog post https://www.mycrappyhouse.com/i-suck-but-i-have-a-plan/ and scroll down, you will see my first comment replies are displaying V Vachula, while the newer ones are My Crappy House. Can I get those old comments to update?

    I just realized I can edit the comments to display correctly one by one. If I can’t get them to auto-update, I’ll bite the bullet and start editing. Thank you.

    Lol, Realized When You Said That, Well Best Of Luck Doing That. You Can Set The Topic To Resolved Now To Avoid Further Comments ??
