Changing how albums display vs how galleries are displayed

We are looking to change the way albums are displayed vs how galleries are displayed. Specifically we want albums to be displayed as thumbnails and galleries to display as a NextGEN Pro Horizontal Filmstrip.
Is there any way to do this without having to create a page for every gallery?
