Changing Header?

You can add a background image to the header area with some CSS. Something like:

.site-header {
background: transparent url(/path/to/image);
}

Use a child theme to edit the styles or install a plugin like Jetpack and use the Custom CSS module.

Using the suits theme. How can I make the background behind my header image a black background? Can someone tell me where I can find this in CSS??

In order to make header background color black, make following changes in your style.css

1.. Look for “.site-header”
2.. Add following code

.site-header {
background: url(https://graciamariastudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/cropped-Screen-Shot-2014-03-21-at-5.05.04-PM.png) no-repeat scroll top;
background-color: #000;
}
