• Hi All

I am in the process of converting over a static website to using WordPress. I am nearly done, but I am having a strange problem with the Front Page displays.

My front page is set to: Home
and my Post page is set to: Press Releases

Everything nearly works as expected, except that now the link to the Press Releases page always leads back to the home page. It works if I change the Post Page to ANY other page on the website. I can’t figure out what’s going down. Any tips would be appreciated!

    tHANKS!

  • Do you have posts on “Home” or is “Home” a static page? If you’re setting posts to “Press Releases”, and “Home” also has posts, then I’m guessing you’re getting the same page coming up no matter what you do.

Well the Home page is really just a re-worked version of the default index.php file. Basically, the home page displays mostly static content, but also pulls in 2 of the most recent posts.

You seem to be right though that same page is popping up regardless.

The flow should be like this:

    1. User visits home page, clicks on article ‘teaser’
    2. User is taken to the article detail/press release page
    3. Alternatively, the user can view a Press Release page, which shows ALL the current press releases.

I am going to play around with it some more and see if I can figure it out.

    Thanks!

Okay, I’ve figured it out. I was just a bit confused on how the ‘static’ page setup worked. The ‘posts’ page is not the single view, as I had thought, but what is normally the default index.php or ‘home’ view. I also had a naming conflict as I had named by page home.php.

    Anyway, all set now!

It sometimes takes an extra eye to see it differently. That’s what we’re all trying to do here. Glad to help.
