changing from web host to a WordPress blog

  • Hi, I have had a web host for my blog, but as I don’t really need a web site I am going to cancel it and just have a WordPress blog. Can I save my existing blog and convert it back, or do I have to let it go when I cancel my web host subscription and start again?

  • Do you mean to say that you are getting a free WP.com blog? If I’ve understood you correctly, then you can go to Manage->Export->Download the .xml file and this will be your back which will contain your posts/comments/categories etc.

    Then you can sign up for a free blog at WP.com and use Manage->Import->Upload the .xml file. Ta da! You won’t lose a thing.
