Changing from Google Sites to WordPress

Hi Folks,

I have registered my domain through Google Sites and have set my DNS settings to forward a sub domain to my WordPress blog.

What I was wondering was, if I forward my domain to WordPress, do I run the risk of losing my free gmail services?

Does anybody have any experience of this? Complete newbie here so forgive my ignorance. Have searched around and not managed to find anything.
