    For some reason, my messages still get sent from the default administrator address, which is [email protected], causing the messages to go to spam. In Settings I’ve changed it to send from an email address which is the same as the URL. The site is listen2read.com and the email is [email protected]. At this point Settings no longer displays the warning after I change it to an @listen2read.com address, but I believe that’s only an indication that the frontend is working. Somehow it doesn’t seem to have gone into effect, even after waiting a day to see if it just took a while to actually update. The outgoing messages are still getting sent to spam with a warning ‘Our systems couldn’t verify that this message was really sent by aol.com. You might want to avoid clicking links or replying with personal information.’, with the from address still displaying the aol address. The [email protected] is only displayed as the reply-to address.

    Wondering if there’s a bug which can cause Subscribe2 to not actually update the ‘from’ email address, or to make it just the reply-to address instead of the from. Please advise.

    thanks,

  • @kristen,

    This works fine on my sites. Have you checked for a plugin conflict to make sure the email headers are not being re-written elsewhere?

    Yes I’ve tested deactivating other plugins and the same thing continues to happen, do you have any other recs?

    @kristen,

    Try creating a new admin level user on your WordPress blog using the correct email address. Then try selecting that new account name in the drop down.

    Thanks, I tried this but unfortunately it didn’t work either, the new account is only referenced as reply-to and the aol email remains the sender.

    @kristen,

    Something must be re-writing the email header – check your theme by using a core WordPress theme (like TwentyFourteen) and if that still doesn’t work see if your hosting provider can help.

    Nevermind, it turned out to indeed be a plugin conflict, one I didn’t suspect – WP User Control. You can add to your notes that if there’s a different email address specified in the WP User Control widget it will create a conflict.

    thanks,

    @kristen,

    I’m not familiar with that plugin but it seems there may be somewhere to set the outgoing email address for all emails and that over rides Subscribe2. It may be the two fields for email and from name in the Widget Settings.

    Yep, I changed the outgoing email address in the WP User Control widget and that solved the issue.
