Hi, first of all, the best translation plugin ever use – congrats! As my WordPress Installation was installed with German (Switzerland) Language, the flag for the german language is showing with a swiss flag. it would be helpful, if i can show a german flag for the german language. is there a easy way to change only the flag icon from switzerland to german?
thanks for a quick answer – and again, you have do a great job!

    cheers

  • Hello Claudio,

Thank you for the kind words addressed to the plugin – We appreciate them

You can replace the default flags by using a bit of coding. More information can be found over at: https://translatepress.com/docs/developers/replace-default-flags/

Keep me posted on progress and if you can’t manage to do it; let me know

    Best of the regards,

Hi Denis, sorry for the late answer.

thanks for the link to the documentation i already know. i am not a developer and therefore i have very minimal knowledge of coding. So unfortunately your suggestion is not very helpful to me.

My goal is not to replace the default flags with any custome flags, I just want to replace the swiss default flag with the german default flag of the plugin. Is there any simpler way to do this?

Thank you for your support and help.

    @sdenis
can you please give me a short answer please?

I solved this problem by FTPing and changing the name of the flag files as needed.
In your case you would name the flag you want to use with de_CH.png
All flags are in the folder:
    …/wp-content/plugins/translatepress-multilingual/assets/images/flags/

That‘s a bad idea, since the change will be overridden with every plugin update.

    Thanks for that warning.
Can you please explain how to change the flag according to instructions “1. Replace Default Flags — directly from the Advanced tab” on above mentioned page https://translatepress.com/docs/developers/replace-default-flags/ ?
I have tried to follow #1 instructions and put in existing language data for “English (United States)” (same name, same ISO, same slug), but only created additional language with same name, so now I have 2 languages “English (United States)”.

I did try to upload the new flag and give the same name fr.png for French France language, but on my site nothing was changed. I have no problem uploading the flag after every update of this plugin, but it simply doesn’t work. Is there something I am missing?
