    Hi,

I have a WordPress site that I’m building on a shared hosting plan using a server IP address as URL and not the actual domain name as I would like a seamless switch when it’s complete. When I eventually re-point my domain DNS records to the new server, what would I have to to to make sure that the featured images for my posts don’t break?

    Thanks!

  • See Changing_The_Site_URL for details of how to do this but do make ensure that your DNS changes have propagated fully before making the change.

Alright, so WordPress is smart enough to do that. How about all the <a href> links that I have in posts (which I’ve added manually) that needs to be changed too? Is there a smart way to go around that?

    Thank you! ??

As long as you haven’t hardcoded any urls into your content, WordPress will take care of all of those too.
