Changing Domain Name – Same Server

I need to change the url of my blog. I’m using the same hosting account as my previous url but just want to change the url. Do I need to move all the files to a new folder or when I change the domain name through my server do my files and SQLs stay intact? I’m on Godaddy. Thanks!
