Changing domain name and NOT killing your site???
-
Hi Wpress users.
I am a Noob to website hosting and WordPress. I have been self-hosting my own Wpress site since early April 2011:
My site started as a hobby around Windows Phone 7 – and now I want to push it harder, try and get sponsorship/advertising and a larger reader base. As such, I have a new domain I registered.
My question is on moving the Worpress site to my new domain name. Is it as simple as;
1. Use the Change Primary Domain option in Manage Hosting Services of my hosting service, then ensure the nameservers on the new domain are set correctly. &
2. Then adjust djust the domain name listed in my wordpress admin panel to point to the new domain.
Things I dont know?
– What about all the files in my /blog directory where I have the site indstalled (www.sheeds.com.au/blog)?
– Will all the media (photos, audio etc still work)?
– Will all the links, posts, pages etc still work since I don’t have any permalinks that I know of ?Any and all help is appreciated as I am very concerned I am going to break my site – and even though it’s only 2.5 months old – I have sunk a lot of work into it.
Big tnx in advance. ??
Sheeds.
