Changing code, but sometimes nothing happens

I am using the Elements of SEO theme. The problem I have is that I have been able to change quite a few things, but other times, no matter what I do, nothing changes. Example: I can go into the style sheet and change the font. I have been able to change my header. However, other things that I try to change in the style sheet won’t change at all. It’s odd that I can edit one thing and see a change, then edit something else on the same page and not see a change.

Right now, as you can see, there’s a widget in my right sidebar that doesn’t fit. I want to eliminate the gray border on the right of the right sidebar, but when I go and eliminate the appropriate code, nothing happens. I can’t find anywhere else in any of the other pages a code that I can eliminate to make it go away other than in the style sheet. Yet, I was able to change the bullet graphic, which is also in the style sheet. I don’t get it! I have gone over everything with a fine tooth comb and see no mistakes at all. I’ve been working on this for days.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
