Changing categories to subcategories
-
I have a news site and am trying to organize it a little better. I’ve never used subcategories and could use some help.
Here are some real example. I had 3 categories on my site,
https://www.lasvegasworldnews.com/womens-issues/
https://www.lasvegasworldnews.com/womens-safety/
https://www.lasvegasworldnews.com/womens-safety-tips/I changed the 2nd and 3rd categories to subcategories of the first and now get this
https://www.lasvegasworldnews.com/womens-issues/
https://www.lasvegasworldnews.com/womens-issues/womens-safety/
https://www.lasvegasworldnews.com/womens-issues/womens-safety-tips/I haven’t touched my important categories because I want to make sure it won’t negatively affect my site or SEO. The way my site is set up is that the category base is stripped sowhen you click on an article you don’t see the category so
What benefit would it have to organize this way?
what about redirects of the category to the new sub cat slug – do I have to do anything?I’d appreciate any weigh-ins on benefits and pitfalls
