Changing blog URL
-
Hey I need some ostensible advice on how to do this.
I have installed an instance of word press on a server. My hosting provider offered a url of the form user.myhost.net. The way their system works is that they have a direcotory under ~/www/user.myhost.net/. So I installed the word press under this direcotory (I even imported everything from blogger.com).
Now, I purchased a domain name through godaddy and had set the nameservers to my hosting provider’s. Now using my hosting provider’s domain administration panel, i created “myurl.com”. [Which created two direcotries under ~/www called myurl.com and https://www.myurl.com]. Now I went to the shell and set smyblinks ln -s ~/www/user.myhost.net/ ~/www/myrul.com (ofcourse i had to delete the myurl.com directory for symblinks to work)
Everything is fine and dandy up until now.
Now user.myhost.net is not accessible anymore (my hosting package allows only one domain so i deleted this and created myrul.com).
So when i tried to go into myurl.com/wp-admin it got redirected to user.myhost.net/wp-admin which obviously doesn’t exist. And even the blog at myurl.com looked funny, because the mastheads and all for the theme i used didn’t show up.
So what are my options
1. Forget my installation on user.myhost.net and start all over again with the directory corresponds to myurl.com
2. Recreate the Domain Name entry to user.myhost.net and go access the user.myhost.net/wp-admin and go into dashboard->settings and set the blog url to myurl.com. Then go into shell and reanme user.myhost.net directory to myurl.com directory?
1 or 2. ? Or is there still another option available ?
Thanks for your time guys, i really appreciate any help
