I just put together a website this week and, in the process of learning how to use NextGEN Gallery along with AlloyPhoto’s NextGEN Gallery Export Plugin for Lightroom, I made quite a few changes along the way. In particular, I renamed a couple of albums, however, the permalink for those albums uses the previous album name. I can’t seem to figure out how to get those permalinks to be regenerated.

All of my software is up-to-date and meets the minimum required versions. I’m on a shared hosting plan at Hostgator, which claims that Apache mod-rewrite is active and that PHP Safe Mode is off.

I’m running the following WordPress plugins:
    – Akismet 3.1.7
    – Jetpack 3.9.1
    – NextGEN Gallery 2.1.23
    – Sucuri Security 1.7.17
    – Wordfence Security 6.0.23

My theme is unmodified Twenty Fourteen.

You can see the problem on this page: https://oaken-tor.us/torpix/

If you click on the Construction album link, the page that loads is: oaken-tor.us/torpix/ngg/groundbreaking-to-completion-building-our-house-at-oaken-tor. I’d expect the last bit of the URL to be ngg/construction. Similarly, once you’re on that page and click All Albums, which is the name of my album of albums, in the breadcrumbs, the URL ends in “master” rather than “all-albums”.

I experimented with various sequences of making WordPress change the permalink structure and changing the slug in NextGEN Gallery, to no avail. I tried this with Jetpack in particular deactivated, but that didn’t help.

I feel like I’m overlooking something simple and hope you can help. Thanks!

@debbiewolfegmailcom – Once the album is created it retains its original slug (based on its name) … if you want to change that slug the easiest method is to re-create the album with an appropriate name.

The disconnect between breadcrumb name and URL is also based in similar logic, where the URL is using the album’s original name as its segment and the breadcrumbs will use the albums name as it current stands.

    Thanks!

Update: I went into the database and fixed the slug field in the wp_ngg_album table for the All Albums album, so you won’t see that issue if you look at the site. I’ll leave the other one as is for now. Still would like to know if there’s a way to fix this through the plugin rather than going into the db itself.

Oops, thanks, Cais! I was posting as you were responding. I appreciate the answer. I’m pretty comfortable mucking around in the database, so I’ll just fix the other one there as well. I’ll be more careful with my initial album names in the future. Again, thank you very much!
