• I tried installing some new security plugins to my WordPress and now for some reason, the Login screen is acting weird. It’s not letting me log in through the admin login and when I type the correct password it will just redirect me back to that login screen. I managed to get in through yahoo settings but when I try to change any of my settings like resetting my password or deleting users it will say that they were deleted but when I go back to the users they will still be there. In other words the changes I’m making don’t seem to be taking effect. I already made a backup of my database (the .sql file sent via email) and I was wondering what I should do?

  • “tried installing some new security plugins”
    – if any plugin renders white screen or some funky behavior, delete the plugin via FTP or cpanel.

You can also export XML – Tools > Export > All and save to computer. Download/backup also your media uploads folder from wp-content folder.

    ” yahoo settings “
    – are you hosted on yahoo server?

yes yahoo is my host. Is there a way to just reinstall WordPress but be able to back up all my data before that and just put it back on?

I have never used Yahoo hosting at all so question is, did you install WordPress there via upload thru FTP or cpanel or did you have to run a script like Fantastico or something else to set up WordPress?

Remember all the requirements before upgrading WP install – like backups and disactivating plugins, etc.

If you intalled via script, hold off and contact host if their upgrade script is up to 2.9 version. A new database table will be created with this upgrade.

If you uploaded via FTP or cpanel, reupload the files and folders then run https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php which will create the new table, commentmeta in your database.

    Activate plugins one by one.

Ok well I uninstalled WordPress and reinstalled it. It fixed the problem with the login and now I can get in but Im trying to now import the .xml file it gave me for the backup of the old one. When i try to Import it, it tells me “Sorry, there has been an error. 6”.

I am trying to install a new theme. I recently changed my password successfully so that I can get into WordPress, but when I type that same password in when trying to change the them, it actually adds one digit to what I type in and then says I haven’t got the right password. (My new password is one digit less than my old password. What’s up?
