Changes to theme not working on staging site

    I made updates to my theme by going to Appearance > Customize. I made the blog not act as the home page and I updated the navigation. I did not Publish the changes because I was afraid I would accidentally change the live site. When I go the staged site, the changes don’t appear. Should I be publishing the changes to theme? I have not applied this new theme to the live site yet.
