I have changed the Page Title and meta description in Yoast SEO settings for this homepage, but it is still showing the old version. I have tried updating the plugin and all other plugins and themes. It shows the updated title and description when I edit the page, but they are still the old ones in the code. Any ideas why they won’t update?

    Hello @bluerockdesigns,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your meta description. Can you confirm if what’s in the page source copied below is what you have entered in the Yoast SEO plugin?

<meta name="description" content="At Story City Dental, our experienced dentist, Dr. Daniel Binkowski, while a general dentist, has been trained to provide many of the services you would primarily..." />

If not, please share a full screenshot of the meta description field for the homepage. You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

I am experiencing the same issue. I can save the Page title and Meta Description in Yoast SEO settings for any page on the site, and I can see the data is saved in edit view, but the page source itself won’t update. I have tried purging the site cache, and have tried turning off any caching but it has not resolved the situation. If I edit the page content other any other page meta, these changes do appear on the page once saved as expected. As above, any idea what could cause this and how to resolve?

No, the description and SEO title in the code is not what I have entered. That’s the old version. Here is a screenshot of the updated Title and description: https://app.screencast.com/LXJxA8nervHFy

Thanks for the helpful screenshot, @bluerockdesigns. Please try the following steps:

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.
