• I was curious if anyone else experienced any differences/changes in the way their categories worked after upgrading from .72 to 1.0.2. All of my old content is still there as are my categories, but when I sort by category it doesn’t display any of the posts since the upgrade.
I even installed codergurl’s nicer archives hack and when I sort by category it does it properly for all posts prior to the upgrade but then lists all posts after the upgrade seperately (as if they’re in their own nameless category.) So I’m beginning to think that maybe something has changed with regards to how the new wordpress versions deal with categories? Does anybody know? Thanks.

  • Hmmm. I could be wrong, but sounds like the upgrade script either didn’t work, or doesn’t do the category conversion. I say I could be wrong as I >believe< that you’ve crossed the boundary between single cats stored in the post record and multiple cats per post stored in a secondary table. I’d think the upgrade script would migrate the inline cats to individual rows in the secondary table, but maybe not… (Matt?)

Hrm, you’ve actually brought up a pretty good point about the multiple cats issue. I hadn’t thought of that before. Is there any way for me to do this conversion or perhaps make some adjustment to account for this? I would really like to get this fixed as I can no longer sort my archives by category and that kind of sucks. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
