Changes or new setup clocking when inserting into page

I have an existing photogallery on a page. If I click into it to make changes and then hit update, it clocks and clocks and clocks. I can exit out of it and it does appear to make the changes but certainly not gracefully. If I try to insert a new instance of an existing gallery group onto the page using gutenberg block, it also clocks and clocks and clocks. In this instance, I cannot insert a new instance of an existing gallery group. The gallery looks fine in photogallery preview. If I try to create a new gallery group with existing galleries, it does not pull them in. However, if I create a new gallery with new photos, I can create a gallery group and pull in that gallery but not already existing ones. Also, regardless of whether it’s new or an existing one, I cannot successfully insert into the page using the block.
