• Hi, I had the following message:
“It looks like you may have changed your domain. Is https://www.tempdomain.com still your site’s domain, or have you updated it to https://www.yourdomain.com?”

pop up after moving the site to a beefier hosting plan. When the host moved the site over, they used a temporary URL to install the site to the new server to keep downtime at a minimum. It’s now been switched back to the same/old URL. If I reset the connection (to the usual URL), will it loose all of the Jetpack Data previously collected? Or will that be preserved? I want to be sure before I do anything.

    Thanks!

Hi there! When you clone a site by copying the files and the database, its blog_id will be copied as well (it’s included in the options table).

Then, when you create the new site (or in your case, move to the production site) with a different domain name based on the cloned files it can cause issues with Jetpack: two sites, two different domains, and a single blog_id. Jetpack can’t handle that, so we need to create a new blog_id for your new site.

Could you post both the live site URL and temporary site URL here, so I can have a look?
