Changed wp_config.php = White Screen!!

    Here’s the deal:

    I am switching over to BlueHost. I followed all the steps: exported my SQL database from the old host, created a new SQL at BlueHost and imported the sql file.

    I went into the wp_config.php file and changed the Database name, user, and password. (Host = ‘localhost’)
    I am 100% certain I am using the correct name, user, and password of the new SQL database I created in BlueHost. (i.e. I wasn’t trying to use my wordpress password)

    My site now turns up completely blank. In addition, I noticed that if I try logging into WordPress (https://DOMAIN.com/wp-login.php), it’s as thought my wrodpress account doesn’t exist (I am SURE I typed in my login and password correctly).

    Help!

  • What is your domain name?
    Did you change the NameServer’s to BlueHost’s NameServers yet?

    My domain is joatblog.com
    I did change the nameservers over to Bluehost nameservers.

    Just in case i messed up, I started from scratch: I have everything backed up so I went ahead and deleted all the files in the bluehost home directory, uninstalled wordpress, deleted my SQL database, and deleted SQL database user.

    Here are the exact steps I have taken:
    1) exported .spl file from old host.
    2) created new SQL database on BlueHost.
    3) created new SQL database user on BlueHost.
    4) Added user to database, and assigned “All Privileges”
    5) Imported .sql file into new database.
    6) Clicked on “wp_options” table to ensure that “siteurl” and “home” are still pointing to the correct domain (https://joatblog.com)
    7) in “wp_options” changed “upload_path” to “/home8/USER/public_html/wp-content/uploads” (**I’m not sure if this is correct)

    Note: At this point I have yet to re-install the WordPress Script. Should I have done that earlier?? When I try to know, it obviously gives me a warning that files will be overwritten.

    In any case, I am now going into FileManage to locate the wp-config.php file, but there are no wordpress files to be seen. I know I haven’t installed wordpress yet, but I have imported all the files from the old host so…where are they??

    You have imported the database, but that does not include the files.
