• I’ve searched for this problem but every thread is either too old or didn’t answer my question. I changed the permalinks via the admin panel and after doing so the site itself and the entire admin portion throw a 500 ISE. I looked for the .htaccess file in the root folder (turned on hidden in FileZilla) and none was there. Made both a blank one and one with the standard code to no avail. Really at a loss as to what’s going on.

  • Hey,

Have you tried by deleting your .htaccess file and then re-saving permalink settings under Settings > Permalinks page?

There was no .htaccess file (I did have hidden files shown via FileZilla). Made it twice, one blank and one with “stock” code. Neither worked.
