    Hi All,
I’m terribly new (and seemingly terrible period) at this WP thing, so please don’t bite! Yesterday I purchased a new domain name https://www.pinlovin.com

I had a blog in it’s very early stages (with genesis parent theme + child theme) up an running on https://www.thepincoach.com but had a change of heart and decided to change my direction. Therefore yesterday I purchased the new domain above, then managed to swap my hosting from thepincoach.com over to pinlovin.com through my hosting company.

When I try and login now to pinlovin.com/wp-admin I cannot. I waited overnight, hoping the DNS servers needed to just do their thing…but now I know it is user error and I obviously am missing some important step in my domain name change.

If you check out pinlovin.com, you will see the old content is there, but genesis is lost.

Can someone please tell me what it is that I need to be doing to get access to wordpress admin for my new domain name?

Thank you so much in advance!

    Regards

    Sophie

  • I checked the whois for both sites and both are pointing to the same nameservers “your host”. So this not a DNS issue.

The old seems to be terminated by your web host and the new is really slow.

I noticed that when visiting wp-admin in the new one, it redirects to the old one “wp-admin” which is gone and hence you get the: Oops! Internet Explorer could not find

You need to go to cPanel > phpmyadmin > your blog database > find wp-config table and edit it. Remove the old domain and replace it with the new one.

    Hi,

The fix is what HostPuma suggested. You could ask your host to do this for you, in case you find uncomfortable editing your database.

    Thanks

    Dear HostPuma and Dinsan
Thank you both so much for your assistance. I never cease to be amazed by the helpfulness of strangers on the net, so lovely! Restores my faith in humanity lol! I went into my C-panel but couldn’t find my blog database so as you suggested Dinsan, I have sent off a msg to my host instead. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Woo hoo, I’m up and running again. This is what my host said:

“The issue is now resolved on our end, it was a bit confusing but the issue was the database that links everything together for you website.

That database had disappeared from your account but was still in the server so i placed it back and made a couple of change so it doesn’t refer to .thepincoach.com and your website is now up and running.”

    Indeed I had no chance!!

Thanks again guys and have a great rest of the day ??

    Regards

    Sophie

    Thats great news ??

Please update your thread to “Resolved”
