    Hello.

We’ve done some “massive” changes to our site the last 2 weeks. Basically we want to attract more paying customers, and have therefore changed most of our products from being able to purchase in cartons to also being able to purchase in smaller quantities (packs) This has been done by changing most of our products to variable products, where customer may choose wether to buy a carton, or a pack. This should increase our sales to private customers, while still holding on to our business-customers.

Basically I wanted to know wether this might create some sort of problems with the google search engine. The last few days our traffic has gone done massively, and I just don’t understand why. If anyone could give us a few pointers that would be fantastic. Perhaps this is just due to all the changes also, and traffic should come back up. We’re by no means web-page professionals so it would be great hearing from someone who knows that they are talking about.

*The link in the description is just an example of our product categories to show what I mean.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Changing from simple to variable product (if that is all you did) has zero impact on traffic, it must be something else, I recommend to inspect your analytics more.

    Hi @ecoengros,

That’s really odd. As @hamster2116 mentioned changing from simple to variable product should have zero impact on traffic, it must be something else. Are you using any SEO plugins on your site? If yes, then please check the setup and configuration of that SEO plugin.

Also, make sure the option “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” is unchecked in WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Reading: https://d.pr/i/DsugUr

Thanks for your response. I think our problem might actually have something to do with google ads, as there was some changes done here also that I wasn’t aware of. thank you.
